About Phuket & Karon Beach
If you fly from Bangkok to Phuket in 1 Hour and 20 minutes, just before your landing you can see the spectacular rock formations climbing out of the sea in Phang-Nga Bay. Very interesting for an excursion as well in combination with a visit of the traditional sea gypsies.
Phuket is the biggest island of Thailand and offers you the most beautiful beaches and landscape. It’s a very green and hilly island which is about 50 km long and 20 km wide. About 300.000 people live on Phuket, but it accommodates millions of holidaymakers each year.
On the west side of Phuket you find the most beautiful beaches with Kata and Karon on top. Patong is the most busy and offers the most extreme nightlife. But also Kata and Karon offer everything, but in a more friendlier way.
Karon has a perfect mix. The local people live around the Buddhist temple of Karon and you find lots of traditional Thai shops and restaurants, and of course Thai massage is offered in many shops. The beach of Karon is about 4 km long. You will find beach chairs, lots of water sports, and the beach boys will serve you food and drinks on request.
On Phuket and in its surroundings you have lots of possibilities for excursions: dive and snorkel trips, boat trips, fishing, golf, elephant riding, carting, a water paradise, natural parks, rainforests, the zoo, historical temples, Thai cooking classes, spa’s and massages, shows etc. Or visit one of the famous islands like Raya Island, James Bond island, or Phi Phi island where the movie “The Beach” was filmed.
